Cekak Visual 3D

Markerless Motion Capture Platform for Martial Arts Performance Analysis

Cekak Visual 3D is a research-driven motion analysis platform developed to support martial arts performance analysis using markerless motion capture technology.

Designed for real training environments, the platform enables objective evaluation of movement techniques through 3D motion data without the need for markers, wearable sensors, or complex laboratory setups.

Developed by HESRC teams, in collaboration with academic and practitioner partners, Cekak Visual 3D bridges biomechanics research with practical coaching and training needs.

The Challenge in Martial Arts Performance Analysis

Martial arts training traditionally relies on visual observation and subjective feedback. While effective, this approach can make it difficult to:

  • Objectively assess movement quality and consistency
  • Compare techniques across sessions or practitioners
  • Capture subtle biomechanical differences
  • Conduct performance analysis outside controlled laboratory environments

Conventional motion capture systems are often expensive, intrusive, and impractical for everyday martial arts training.

Our Approach

Cekak Visual 3D addresses these challenges by combining markerless motion capture with applied biomechanics research, enabling motion analysis in natural training settings. The platform focuses on:
Capturing human movement without markers or wearables
Supporting technique assessment and movement analysis
Enabling data-driven insights for coaching, training, and research
Maintaining usability in real-world martial arts environments

What the Platform Does

Cekak Visual 3D enables users to:

  • Capture 3D motion data during martial arts practice
  • Analyze movement techniques objectively
  • Assess movement consistency and efficiency
  • Compare performance across sessions
  • Support research, coaching feedback, and training evaluation

The system is designed to complement, not replace traditional coaching expertise with quantitative insights.

Who It Is For

Cekak Visual 3D is designed for:

  • Martial arts coaches and trainers
  • Martial arts practitioners and athletes
  • Researchers in biomechanics and movement science
  • Educational institutions and training centers
  • Performance analysis and coaching programs

Research-Driven Development

Cekak Visual 3D is developed with a strong research foundation in biomechanics, motion analysis, and applied movement science. The platform is continuously refined through:

  • Academic research projects
  • Collaborative studies with universities
  • Pilot implementations in training environments
  • Feedback from practitioners and coaches

This ensures that development remains evidence-based, practical, and application-oriented.

Current Status

Cekak Visual 3D is an early-stage validated platform, currently used in research studies, pilot implementations, and collaborative projects. Development focuses on iterative improvement, validation, and expansion of use cases within martial arts performance analysis.

Research Foundation

Cekak Visual 3D is built on applied research in biomechanics and motion analysis, ensuring that development is grounded in scientific principles and real-world validation
