A giant leap begins with a small step!
On June 12, 2024, we had the privilege of participating in the Melaka International Intellectual Exposition 2024 (MIIEX2024), held at UiTM Alor Gajah, Melaka.
This event highlighted innovations aimed at supporting individuals with special needs, aligning perfectly with the theme “Empowerment of Special Needs through Invention & Innovation.” Seizing the opportunity, we proudly entered the competition with our latest project, KognAktif.
Representing our development team, our CEO, Dr. Mohd Firdaus Abd Razak, alongside Mr. Mohd Hizam Hussain, a dedicated special education teacher from S.K. Hashim Awang, Penang, promoted KognAktif at the exhibition. Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly, and we gained valuable insights from the event.
Currently in the development phase, KognAktif is designed to help primary school students with special needs improve their eye-hand-foot coordination and motor skills, which are essential for their academic success and overall quality of life.
The web-based app is developed with user convenience in mind; all that’s required is a laptop/desktop, a webcam, and an internet connection. By leveraging motion capture technology and AI algorithms, we ensure minimal development and operational costs, making it an accessible tool for schools and institutions.
This project reflects the collaborative efforts of visionary minds from HESRC, SK Hashim Awang (Penang), UiTM Permatang Pauh (Penang), and SIRIM AMREC (Kedah). Most importantly, we are deeply grateful to Cradle Fund for their unwavering support in turning this project into a reality, empowering us to make a difference in the lives of these students. Without their financial backing, KognAktif would have remained just a vision.
We’re excited to share that KognAktif was awarded a Silver Medal under the Special Award Category at this prestigious international competition. While we are proud of the recognition, we are more focused on raising awareness about the importance of creating accessible, engaging tools to enhance the learning experiences of students with special needs.
At the exposition, we gathered valuable feedback from various attendees, which will help us continue improving KognAktif. Our mission is clear: to make learning more exciting and effective for special needs students, ensuring they can thrive both academically and in life.
